Dear friends in the Diaconate Community,
Plans are well underway for the Region II Convocation to be held at the RIT Inn and Conference Center July 31- August 2, 2009. The theme of this year's Convocation is "Be still, and know that I am God." It will be directed towards helping us hone our Diaconal Spirituality in the 21st Century! We already have some outstanding presenters from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania as well as closer to home. I'm pleased to invite all of you to mark off that weekend on your personal and parish calendars and plan to attend this magnificent event! An event that our Diocese gets a chance to host only about every ten years!
I am grateful to all who have volunteered to help so far with this event. There is, however, always room for more volunteers! If you'd like to share a particular talent or would just like to be involved in this Convocation, kindly contact me either by e-mail or via phone.
We are exploring the possibility of offering housing hospitality in homes of folks here in the Greater Rochester community. We think it will offer us a chance to dialogue with folks from other dioceses, thus enhancing our ministry. It also offers a chance to keep the cost of the Convocation lower for those from out of town than it would be with two nights of hotel accommodations included. If you are interested in this venture and would like to open your home to an out-of-town deacon and wife, please contact either me, or David Palma (328-3228 ext. 1237). We do need to hear from you about the housing option rather soon as our first mailing needs to be ready shortly.
