2000 Diaconate Retreat
John Antenucci reported that we don’t have final closure with respect to our prospective retreat master, Fr. Jim Hewes. Everything depends on diocesan re-assignments.
Formation Community Support
Dick Lombard reported that feedback on the event of 31 March was overwhelmingly positive; a “hunger for connection” was articulated by members of the formation community. It was suggested that a similar gathering be run on an a continuing basis. Frequency and timing were not firmly decided; one suggestion was a simple Lenten supper. . Dick mentioned that Holy Name would be willing to host any sequel events. An important aside: having clean-up and set-up “hired out” was “worth every penny”.
Liaison to Deacon Personnel Board
John Antenucci observed that the name of the SSDCA liaison to the Deacon Personnel Board needs to be officially communicated to that board.
Financial Fund
This will be further explored next month.
Outreach from SSDCA to deacons and families
Rose Marie will bring “occasional cards” to each SSDCA meeting so that we can sign them as occasions dictate. Broader aspects of outreach will be discussed at our next meeting.
Web Site Prayer Connection
John Tomandl reported that this is operational -- it is a condensation of Defendorf’s prayer list.
Web Site Linkage to doc.org
John Antenucci reported that this is done -- linkage is mutual.
Treasurer’s Report
No activity, no report
Directory for the Ministry and Life of Permanent Deacons
Tom Schrage laid out an outline for study of the document. We had a brief discussion of Joint Declaration. Next time, we will discuss the introduction (pp. 11-20)
Date to remember: Canonical Retreat, 24 May, Notre Dame Retreat Center
Roni Antenucci offered the closing prayer.
Respectfully Submitted,
Greg and Carole Sampson
